Bill Dawson

Bill has written for theatre, TV and film. Theatre includes: Your Move, Mockingbirds. He has had many commissions and been a writer on The Bill, and has a film script in development. He also writes and performs poetry, is a story teller and was previously a stand up comedian. He is currently working on a novel and compiling a collection of short stories. He has taught screenwriting, TV, comedy and playwriting for the University of Liverpool.

He created and was course leader on the very successful MA in Screenwriting at Liverpool John Moores University. He has been a writer in residence, a guest writer and taught writing and poetry in many schools. A significant number of his students now work in film and TV. His teaching style is based on mind friendly learning, which he employs in all his teachings both with adults and children extensively in schools throughout the North West of England. Bill’s philosophy is, that you can create great characters, vibrant dialogue and have wonderful ideas but without good structure you have nothing.
